Weber gas grills are renowned for their energy efficient design, durability and quick grilling times. Despite the quick grilling times, it does really well in the grilling department. Many users have mentioned that it takes almost half the time or maybe sometimes less to cook steak using Weber gas grills compared to other equivalent gas grill models out there.
We will have a closer look at cheap gas grills offered by Weber. These gas grills are the “Q” series and are great for family BBQs, balcony BBQs or even camping BBQs due to their portability.
Weber Q 100 Portable Propane Gas Grill
This model is also call the “Baby Q” simply because it is the smallest among the “Q” Weber gas grill range. But don’t be fooled by its size. I remember while I started my grilling days, I had a lot of problems searching for a good model that is light and I could just carry around with me for my camping trips. There is a Coleman portable gas grill model which I considered but at the end I finally settled for the Weber Q 100 gas grill.True enough it is small, but this small gas grill packs a punch when it comes to grilling. Its heavy porcelain-enameled cast-iron grates are fantastic as it cooks my steaks and burgers really well. I believe it is this component that sets the difference between other models. There’s even heating all round and it cooks really quick. If you are thinking of setting up a BBQ with this baby Q, you might as well look for another model because this gas grill is only good for cooking a meal for four, or a small group. A small family can use this perfectly on an outdoor trip.
I don’t use this too often nowadays but it is still going well after 3 years of using it. I was really impressed that it still cooks great after leaving it in the shed for 2 months. This is by far my favourite outdoor portable gas grill from Weber.

Weber Q 200 Portable Gas Grill
This model is a portable gas grill that is sort of in between the “Baby Q” and the Q220. It’s what I call the modest gas grill. If you want something that is sort of an in-between then this is the model to consider getting for your grilling needs.Again, don’t be deceived by its size. I’ve used this model several times in my cousin’s place and several picnics with some friends. It is very generous in size with its 280 square inch cooking space. It can fit at least 10 steaks and a couple of chicken wings with space to spare. The wide bars and tight spacing of the grate makes it easy to cook sliced vegetables and grates. Even when I tried maximizing the space to its limit, this model cooks great.
Weber markets this as great for outdoor grilling or outside your home which I totally agree. Assembling is easy and I call this model my 2nd most favourite among all the Weber Q models. It’s a model to consider if you want to grill a whole lot more compared to the Weber Q100. It also comes with a side table and this is the model that started the side table “trend” for all the rest of the “Q” models.

Weber Q 220 Gas Grill
The next in the lineup is the Weber Q220 gas grill. This model is obviously larger than the “Baby Q” so it’s great for a bigger BBQ feast. It covers a wider cooking area and has a higher cover height. It will easily take care of a whole chicken grill or a half turkey grill. Still it’s light enough to carry around. Again this model comes with the heavy porcelain-enameled cast iron grate, which makes it great at grilling just about anything. I remember using this to cook some steaks at a friend’s place and it was my first time using it. I was really impressed that despite the 12500 BTU rating, it could easily cook them in half the time.Just like the “Baby Q” this model has 2 side tables to place your grilling tools and place some food. The difference is that it has a built-in thermometer for roasting with electronic ignition. I don’t own this model but the price tag of about $200 is well justified based on its features. I’m also impressed that Weber had thought of a drip tray for fat which makes your food healthier (less saturated fat).
If you are a keen griller, this model is great for a bigger family. The larger Weber Q300 gas grill is a tad bid expensive although Weber calls it the “family” model. My personal opinion would be that the Q220 would suffice.

Finally, the Weber Q100, Q200 and Q220 are all great gas grill models. It’s really up to you what you want to use it for. A family gas grill would be the Q220. The Q100 would be ideal for small grilling sessions. If you don’t want to disappoint yourself by getting less than average gas grill models, think about making a good investment in a good gas grill. All the Q models come with a 5 year warranty. My advice to keep your gas grill well maintained is to ensure that you clean your cast iron grates properly before every grilling session.
